Festival Rules

Entry Requirements
There will be a maximum of 12 places open to all amateur adult & youth groups. Each entry will be no longer than 60 mins, including setting & striking the set and no less than 20 mins in performance. It may be a one act play or an extract from a full length play. Please download the forms above. Deadline for entries Friday 25th March 2011.

A technical meeting will be arranged at Cornerstone, where groups can meet the Festival Stage Manager, Tara Walton, and discuss lighting/sound requirements with the Cornerstone technical team. Please note that the Cornerstone technicians will set the lights as required and offer advice only - they will NOT be responsible for operating the lights for individual performances so each group should ensure they have adequate support. If this is a problem then let the organisers know and we will try and help.

Festival Format
The festival this year will be performed over one weekend containing four sessions of up to 3 performing groups - Matinee (2.30pm) and Evening (7.30pm)

At the end of each session, the adjudicator, Louise Manders, will stand up and present her thoughts on the performances that she has just seen.

After her adjudication following the final performances on the Sunday night there will be a short break after which the Adjudicator will sum up the week and announce the award winners. These awards, sponsored by local businesses and organisations and will include:

Best Play
Runner up
Best Actor
Best Actress
Best Character
Best Youth performance
Stage Presentation/Production Design
Adjudicators Choice – can be any aspect that the adjudicator thought worked particularly well.

Members of participating groups will be required to have a valid ticket (which will be discounted) if they wish to see other groups perform on the same night that they are performing although the adjudication at the end of the evening will be free for all to listen to. The stage proceedings throughout each evening will be relayed to the green room

The Bar will be open throughout and a pre-theatre menu will be available from the Cornerstone resident cafe/bar, Couture.
